Hi, I’m Byron Carlock, president & CEO of CNL Lifestyle Properties. I would like to provide you with an update on Cypress Mountain, one of our 23 ski and mountain lifestyle properties, located 13 miles north of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Cypress Mountain is the official freestyle skiing and snowboard venue for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Our operating partner Boyne Resorts and the management team at Cypress Mountain worked hard to prepare for this event. CNL Lifestyle Properties invested more than $25 million over the last several years on property expansions and improvements such as:
A new 48,000 square-foot Cypress Creek Day lodge, that features skier services, includes a cafeteria, a pub-style restaurant and meeting space
The new Lions Express high-speed quad chairlift
A whole new area of the mountain being opened to skiers and snowboarders, resulting in 10 new ski runs
And, the addition of night lighting on Mount Strachan that opens up more of the property to guests
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) has invested several million dollars into improvements and enhancements as well.
We feel that these improvements, in addition to the publicity and visibility of the games, position the property well for international notoriety and increased visitation for years to come.
